With full hearts, the Native American Education Program extends our deepest thanks to everyone who helped make our Traditional Spring Feast so meaningful and memorable. To our instructors, Thomas Cain Jr, Kateri Phillips, Donald KaKayGeesick, Anthony Buckanga, and Sara Thunder. Thank you for generously sharing your teachings and cultural knowledge. Your guidance created space for learning and connection.

To our incredible 7th-grade teachers and students, your energy and participation brought this gathering to life. To our facility staff, your hard work behind the scenes ensured everything ran smoothly. A special thank-you to our high school student volunteers for stepping up and supporting in so many ways, and to The Hawk Catering Services for helping provide such a wonderful traditional-style meal.

We are also deeply grateful to our honored guests and community members for joining us with open hearts and a willingness to learn and take part. This gathering was more than an event; it was a celebration of a new season, a time to embrace culture, and an opportunity to learn about sacred medicines, drum teachings, ceremonial smudging, and storytelling.

Miigwech, all for being part of this shared experience.

The Native American Education Program is proud to share Ms. McDonald’s Kindergarten class! Our program was invited to present to the entire elementary student body during Warrior Way on the Seven Sacred Grandfather Teachings. We discussed the significance of each teaching, watched a video, and prepared an activity for every class to participate in.

Great job, Ms. McDonald and the Warroad Kindergarten class on completing your creative 3D Grandfather Teachings project!

May we carry the Seven Sacred Teachings as guiding principles:  love, respect, courage, humility, wisdom, honesty, and truth- into all that we do!

The 45th annual Northwest Minnesota Sixth Grade History Contest was held on April 29 at the Roseau City Center. Students from Badger, Grygla, Lancaster, Marshall County Central, Roseau, and Warroad Schools participated, with each school selecting three students to participate. Students completed a written exam on Minnesota history, covering early settlement, statehood, major events, and notable figures. Warroad brought home trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place! Great job William Olson, Jens Grafstrom, and George Farnes! We are really proud of you! #TimeToShine 🌟
