Over the past 3 weeks, students in Culinary 1 have been learning about food safety, sanitation, and foodborne illnesses through a program administered by the National Restaurant Association called ServSafe. Through various labs and online coursework, Miss Ashley had all 42 students pass the extensive exam and earn their ServSafe Food Handlers certification. Congratulations to our Culinary students!

Dear Warroad Elementary Families: Warroad Elementary students in Grades 3-6 will participate in MCA tests in the upcoming weeks. MCA’s (Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments) test whether students have achieved the state standards at their grade level. While this test is not mandatory, we encourage all students to participate. The MCA’s are used by ISD #690 for insight on academic instructional and resources focus. The Minnesota Department of Education uses MCA results to track our school’s annual accountability status. Warroad Schools’ MCA testing schedule and further information can be viewed using the Student Life > Statewide Testing and Assessment tab on the school website: www.warroad.k12.mn.us Reading (Grades 3-6): April 19-21, 2022 Math (Grades 3-6): April 26-28, 2022 Science (Grade 5): May 3-5, 2022 The best preparation for testing is the instruction your child has received throughout the year in his/her classroom. Through our own assessments, we know that the vast majority of our students have been proficient in learning the academic content of the standards at their grade level. We are also preparing our students for state testing by helping them develop test taking strategies and by familiarizing them with the format of the tests. A few reminders for families before taking the exams: Please encourage students to do their best and show what they know! Remind students to have a positive attitude! It is key for students to approach MCA’s with confidence. Please ensure that your child is well rested and ready to do his/her best work. Students are encouraged to utilize personal headsets or earbuds for MCA testing. A healthy meal before testing is important. Students should be in school on time each day. Please make this a priority. Report all absences to the Elementary Office. Students absent during testing will make up the test on a later date. If you have any questions about testing, please speak with your child's teacher, or contact the Warroad Elementary office at (218)386-6094. The mission of the Warroad Public Schools is “Together WE create a future of excellence by providing a learning community that is personalized, innovative, and secure for all learners.” Partnering to help all kids learn, parents and school staff can have a profound and positive effect on the lives of our children. Sincerely, Mrs. Brita Comstock, Elementary Principal

FYI: Information regarding elementary spring concerts! Keeping the safety of all of our students in mind, Warroad Elementary will be implementing a few new procedures for the elementary music programs. All of the elementary spring concerts will take place in the High School Gym. The concerts will also be livestreamed for anyone unable to attend. The main High School entrance by the office (Door number 15) will be the ONLY point of entry for the programs. The doors will unlock ½ hour before the performance. We ask that no one attending the concert (including parents, additional family members, friends and community members) enter the building before that time. Following the performance parents will need to sign their child out through the dismissal manager app or through the elementary office (in person) if they wish to pick up a student before the end of the school day. Students can then be picked up at the elementary office doors. At Warroad Schools ANY visitor in the building is required to have a visitor badge and sign in through the elementary office. Other Warroad students (including siblings) will not be dismissed from class to view the concert (livestream will be available). Your child’s safety is a priority to us! Thank you for helping us to implement these changes so that all students are safe in the building. We look forward to you visiting us and attending the programs! 😊 Wednesday, March 30th…………10:00 am……………..Grade 3 Wednesday, March 30th…………1:00 pm……………….Grade 4 Wednesday, April 27th……………10:00 am…………….Grade 1 Wednesday, April 27th……………1:00 pm………………Grade 2 Wednesday, May 25th……………..1:00 pm………………Kindergarten Graduation
