SPEECH

Speech is a MSHSL activity that allows students to build their public speaking skills. Students can compete in any of the 13 categories that range from Serious Drama, to Informative, to Discussion. Meets typically take place on Saturdays where students compete against schools from all over Northwest Minnesota. Students are able to practice and adjust their pieces based on critiques by judges at meets and through practice with their coach. It is a unique activity for many reasons.

First it is both a team and individual competition. Secondly, it is an activity in which students can become very close friends with their competition from other schools. Not many competitions allow you to build lasting friendships with those you are also competing against.

Speech is open to any student grades 7-12 and with a wide variety of categories, there is something for everyone.
