Mrs. Mattson
In May of 1980, I graduated from Bemidji State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, along with Kindergarten and Nursery School endorsements. My concentrations were in the areas of reading and early childhood education. I continued my education for a fifth year at Bemidji State University taking classes at the Graduate level, to obtain my K-12 Special Education degree, which would enable me to work with students who have learning disabilities.
My first teaching experience was in Benson, Minnesota at St. Francis Xavier School, where I taught for two years within the regular education classroom at the second and third grade levels. In 1984, I moved to Warroad to teach in the special education department at the elementary school. Over the twenty years I worked at the elementary school, I taught students with learning disabilities in Kindergarten through the sixth grade level. This will be my sixth year in the special education department at the high school level, where I now work with students in grades 8-12.
I have enjoyed working with the students and staff over these past twenty-five plus years. I enjoy seeing students make progress and gain self-confidence as they accomplish new skills.
