Mrs. Baade 4th Grade Science and Social Studies


My name is Mrs. Baade.
  I will be teaching fourth grade science and social studies this year.  I am new to the Warroad School District but have previously taught in other school districts for a total of five years.  It has been a great start to the school year.  I have enjoyed getting to know each of the students this first week.
This year in science we will be covering:

Earth Science-
The sun and the moon have locations and movements that can be observed and described.
Life science:
Living things are diverse with many different characteristics that enable them to grow, reproduce and survive.
The Nature of Science and Engineering:
Engineers design, create and develop structures, processes, and systems that are intended to improve society and make humans more productive. 
Physical Science:
Solids, liquids, and gases are states of matter that each have unique properties.
Energy can be transformed within a system or transferred to other systems of the environment

This year in social studies  we will be covering:

  -Governmental institutions and political processes
-Defining productivity of a resource and ways to increase it
  -How individuals, businesses, and governments interact and exchange goods, services in different ways and for different reasons
-Create and use various kinds of maps
-Use latitude and longitude maps and globes to locate places in the United States, Canada, and Mexico
-Locate and identify the physical and human characteristics of places in the United States, Canada, and Mexico
-Name and locate states and territories, major cities and capitals in the United States
